Un-crating..

Postby EGGARY » Mar 20th, '12, 15:37

The Komodo Kamado finally came and we were able to get the outer crate off.
I have been able to take off the bottom pieces of wood of the base. Now the dilemma,
to take it off the pallet the front of the KK, there isn't enough room. So I am thinking
of taking it off from the rear side. Any problems with that ? From what I see the rear legs are less wide than the front.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks.

I took mine off the front, so not too sure. I can't see a problem so long as you've got at least a couple of bodies to throw under it if it goes wrong, to break the landing :) Seriously. don't try and do it by yourself. You should have yourself, and at least one hefty bloke.

Also, to lighten the weight and danger of it going wrong, I took the lid off: I would highly recommend that before you go any further. The Naked Whizz has a very good page on moving the Komodo (including taking lid off) here: http://www.nakedwhiz.com/productreviews/komodokamado/kk.htm

You should read that page before you do anything further ... despite how impatient you may be getting.

Report back on how it goes.

Much ado about nothing. I was able to get my KK
off the pallet with a makeshift ramp/stairs
with plywood. I did notice the pry bar attached to the crate.
That made taking apart the crate.

I guess I made a big deal from how the KK is going to get into
the backyard to taking it off the pallet. Geeze !

Now the fun begins, taking off the shrink wrap and putting it together
and firing the KK up.
